BookNet Canada recently conducted a review of the Canadian book market in 2024, accounting for the mid-way point of the year. They identified five major categories: Bestselling Fiction, Bestselling Non-Fiction, Bestselling Juvenile and Young Adult, Bestselling Adult Title by a Canadian Contributor, and Bestselling Juvenile and Young Adult Title by a Canadian Contributor.
Titles by CPC Members topped four of those categories: Atomic Habits by James Clear (Penguin Random House Canada) was the bestselling Non-Fiction title; Dog Man: The Scarlet Shredder by Dav Pilkey (Scholastic Canada) was the bestselling Juvenile and Young Adult title; This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune (Penguin Random House Canada) was the bestselling adult title by a Canadian contributor; and Claudia and the Bad Joke (Scholastic Canada) by Ann M. Martin and illustrated by Arley Nopra was the bestselling Juvenile and Young Adult title by a Canadian contributor.
My Effin’ Life by Geddy Lee (HarperCollins Canada) and How Canada Works by Peter Mansbridge and Mark Bulgutch (Simon & Schuster Canada) are also top-selling titles in Canada.
