CPC is pleased to join in celebrations of World Book Day, and we stand with our affiliated international organizations IPA, IFFRO and IFA among others, to call for international support for our sector.
As the COVID-19 crisis impact is felt around the world, governments have a vital role to play in safeguarding the continued and future health of authors, publishers and booksellers. We applaud the many measures already announced here in Canada, and we urge our government, and governments world-wide, to continue seeking ways to ensure that books continue to bring great value to societies across the globe. Books are more important now than ever, bringing information, entertainment, enlightenment and education to readers everywhere at an unprecedented time.
