Do you have a passion for books, literature, and learning? Have you considered a career in publishing, but aren’t familiar with the kinds of roles that exist in the industry? Are you interested in learning how people started their publishing careers?
Doors Open Publishing is the event for you!
In an effort to make the Canadian publishing industry more transparent to those who have been historically underrepresented in this industry — including, but not limited to, those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of colour; members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community; and persons with disabilities — the Canadian Publishers’ Council has created the Doors Open Publishing event. Doors Open Publishing is a webinar series where we open our doors to introduce you to some of our colleagues from different publishing companies who all work in the creation of books, spanning the broadest range from design to distribution. Speakers will come from various trade and educational publishing houses across Canada, including Penguin Random House Canada, HarperCollins Canada, Simon & Schuster Canada, Oxford University Press, Wiley, Scholastic, and more. Comprised of nine webinar sessions conducted over four nights, Doors Open Publishing will provide an introductory overview of the many different sectors of the publishing industry in a panelist-style presentation.
Doors Open Publishing is scheduled to run from January 31, 2023 to February 8, 2023. The webinar series will take place over Zoom and is free of charge to all participants who register for the event.
