Become a mentee in the Doors Open Publishing Mentorship Program

Our doors are open once again for a new, exciting look into the publishing industry!

The Canadian Publishers’ Council (CPC) is excited to present the Doors Open Publishing Mentorship Program. This mentorship program is a unique opportunity for members of the public to network with current members of the Canadian publishing industry.

In monthly, one-to-one meetings, mentees and mentors will discuss the realities of working in the Canadian publishing landscape. Designed for those who are historically underrepresented in the Canadian publishing industry, mentees will be paired with current Canadian publishing professionals to discuss what a career in publishing entails, the various roles offered in the industry today, and how mentees can leverage their experience within these publishing roles. Mentors will share detailed insights into the industry and support their mentees as they craft career goals. By the end of the program, mentees will be empowered with the resources necessary to pursue their publishing careers.

This six-month program will be conducted virtually to meet the flexible needs of all participants. The formal program structure will provide participants with discussion guidelines, although mentors and mentees are also free to discuss topics as they see fit. The expected time commitment for mentees includes monthly one-hour meetings with their mentors for the six-month duration of the program, a one-hour orientation meeting, and two 30-minute reflection meetings with the program coordinator over the course of the program. Mentors and mentees will be paired based on compatible career interests. The program coordinator will be available throughout the program to facilitate participation from all parties.

Mentee applications are now being accepted through the mentorship application form linked below. For any questions, contact info@pubcouncil.ca.
